Election 2016: Why Facts Don't Seem to Matter

I have heard many Democrats, liberal pundits and Republican elites bemoan the fact that facts don’t seem to matter when they attack Donald Trump without effect. In other words, they can’t believe that we ignore them, so they have to attack us as those who are ignorant or ignoring their facts. That raises two very important questions. First, why are we ignoring their facts? Second, what are the facts? We will address both questions.

Why are we ignoring their facts? That is an easy question to answer in two parts. The first reason why any of us ignore facts at all is the effect of Post-modernism and moral relativism on our culture at large. The second reason we ignore their facts is because their facts are gushing with selective outrage, hypocrisy and constitutionally immoral agenda.

The left and even the centrists in our country have taken over our institutions of education and systematically indoctrinated our people into believing that facts actually don’t matter. They have foisted the lies of post-modernism and moral relativism as the moral absolutes that hypocritically defy their own ideals with immunity. In other words, the facts of history must be ignored in order to teach that history proves that conservatism and the rule of law do not work. In fact, history teaches the exact opposite. Name one society that prospered under the faithful subjection of moral relativism and post-modernism. By indoctrinating our people that there are no moral absolutes, we are trained to believe the lie that nothing is in fact true. Therefore, facts actually don’t matter. What is fact for you is not fact for me. The problem is that facts don’t obey this foolishness. Facts are facts, whether you are a sensitively whiny adult baby or not. To indoctrinate us to ignore facts and even call them false, and then complain when such foolishness gives birth to movements against them is laughable. We don’t applaud such ignorance on either side. But, we deplore hypocrisy more so. If you want to return to absolutes of truth, justice and morality, we are ready to engage. But, we won’t hold our breath for that to happen.

Secondly, the left and its media campaign for decades have selected the facts they want to exploit, ignored the facts that don’t meet their template, and systematically conducted smear campaigns of those on the right with selective moral outrage and hypocrisy all because they want to defy the will of the people to be self-governed. Their agenda is constitutionally immoral in that they openly advocate for the establishment, the unholy alliance between the ruling class and their media puppets. Case in point is the ritualistic character assassinations of Republican candidates and the party at large as bigoted and racist. David Duke, a member of the KKK, comes out and says that he endorses Trump. And, the narrative becomes that this means Trump is a racist unworthy of running for dog catcher. All, the while, what is totally ignored by the media is that the Clinton campaign collected and did not return a $20,000 campaign donation from a Grand Wizard in the KKK. But, this is just a minor infraction. The more grand infraction is the revision of history and facts regarding these two parties and their role in racist bigotry over every decade of this country. Here are the facts:

  • The Republican party is the party that emancipated the slaves and abolished slavery over the near unanimous objections of the Democrat party
  • Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, opposed by Democrats
  • It was the Democrat party that created, nourished and supports to this day the KKK
  • It was the Republican party that successfully fought for and won the right to vote for black Americans, over the objection of the Democrat party
  • It was the Republican party that successfully fought to desegregate our public schools over the objections of the Democrat party
  • It was the Republican Party that advanced the ideals of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s over the objections of the Democrat party
  • For all of the above reasons, Martin Luther King, Jr. was a proud member of the Republican party, not the Democrat party
  • And, even today, it is the Republican party that fights for the ideals of individual freedom and responsibility while the Democrat party characterizes this as racism unless we give free handouts to blacks to buy their vote. That is just another glorified form of Plantationism.
  • The entire history of the Democrat party is drenched with racism, bigotry, segregation and slavery. And, the entire history of the Republican Party is drenched with opposition to all of the above.
  • While Trump does not endorse David Duke, Clinton for her entire career endorsed Robert Byrd, the late Senator from West Virginia. Byrd was a founder of his chapter of the KKK in West Virginia and open advocate for many years of its ideals.
1 John 2:21 says, “I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.”  And, Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” What agenda do you think is misaligned with God’s truth?

In conclusion, this is why we ignore you and your facts. Facts do matter, but your facts do not matter more than the facts that you ignore and try to get the rest of us to ignore. We ignore you because facts do matter. And, when you begin to agree that there is absolute truth, we can all start to reasonably evaluate facts together. Until then, when you evaluate the actual facts in context versus the facts that the left and their media want us to focus on, there is no comparison. Therefore, we ignore your facts. And, we declare your cause as morally repugnant. The greatest danger this country faces is the evisceration of our Bill of Rights in exchange for granting unrepresentative power to the political establishment. And, the media, the left, Republican elites and even conservative purists are immorally aligned with an immoral party that lacks a more moral history and is aggressively advancing an immoral cause. Down with the establishment and their propaganda arm in the media! Why? Because facts do in fact matter.

Why Is Anything Constant?

Many Christian apologists have referred to the confounding myriad of physical constants (gravity, for example) in the universe as strong evidence for apparent design. Such an amazing and cosmos-scale complexity of design certainly supports the notion of a Supreme Being that would be capable of being a reasonable cause for such. This is a strong argument that seeks to primarily defend the notion of design by declaration of evidence. But, as this blog has modeled with each post, a stronger defense is almost always one that asks the strongest of questions of the opposition, albeit diplomatically. After all, the design inference of the universe is more adequately supported from an empirical point of view than the parallel assertions of its assailants. Therefore, why not question the support for the opposing view? For example, why do we have any constants at all? If the universe is not designed, why do we have constants? Can the opposition answer this question? The answer is a deafening “no.”

You might be asking, “What is a universal physical constant?” A universal physical constant is a physical quantity that is generally believed to be both universal in nature and having constant value in time. I shared gravity as an example earlier. According to Newton's law of universal gravitation, the attractive force between two objects is directly proportional to the product of their masses, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. That is complex. But, the short of it is that this constant is universally true even to the extent of being referred to as a scientific “law”. And, there are many others where that came from. In fact, there are at least 19 independent fundamental constants that the vast majority of scientists agree upon. Some of the universal physical constants include:

  • Gravitational constant
  • Speed of light in a vacuum
  • Quark mixing matrix
  • Magnetic constant
  • Electric constant
  • Elementary charge
  • Conductance quantum
  • Inverse conductance quantum
  • Magnetic flux quantum
  • Nuclear magneton
  • Classical electron radius
  • Electron mass
  • Fine-structure constant
  • Proton mass
  • Atomic mass constant
  • Gas constant
  • Second radiation constant

And, that is just a sampling of the constants of which we are aware. We may never have a list of the universal physical constants of which we are not aware. Each of these known constants is complex in its own individual right. Even more complex is the fact that they each work with the others in a harmony that we call reality, or the universe. It is beyond astounding that we have one such universal constant. It should be awe-inspiring that we have more than one. And, it should drop us to our knees before such an almighty God that they all exist in precise harmony with each other.

Now that we have defined what we are talking about, let’s ask the question again. Why do we have any constants at all? What caused a single constant to exist? What caused all of them to exist? What caused all of them to sing the tune of the universe in such transcendent harmony? Science and God-denying philosophies have yet to adequately and reasonably answer these questions. And, we should not stop asking them until they do. You see, in reality, it is not the Christian who should realistically be on the defense. After all, we have a reasonable answer – one that respects both the scientific method and logic. Those in our opposition are they who are most lacking. In fact, their answer to the question is “nothing.”

Our scientific opposition believes (i.e. have faith and/or don’t know) that the universe was caused by nothing. They believe that these constants were caused by nothing. They were either all caused by themselves or spontaneously appeared with no cause. First, that is logical nonsense on its face. Natural effects must have a cause. That is the universal “law” of causality. Even a child can rightly see the foolishness in such an assertion. We have never observed a natural effect that did not have a cause. Can you prove using the scientific method that natural effects have no causes? We also can’t reasonably hypothesize such a notion without defying logic – the Laws of Logic. Do you see where this is going? In order to support the opposition, you have to defy scientific law and philosophical law. But, that is not where the foolishness ends. Something natural can’t logically cause itself into existence. Some other natural or supernatural force must be the cause. And, the cause must be capable of conceptualizing and creating a single universal constant, and probably all of them. Still, that is not where the foolishness ends.

Let’s assume for a moment that they can defy logic and science. Let’s assume in an alternate reality (where logic and science don’t exist) that they are right. Well, if everything emerged from nothing (causeless), then there were no constants to begin with. How do we get from zero to everything? Let’s even assume that the entire quantity of matter in the entire universe existed in a massive atomic ball that exploded to create the universe. Aside from answering what caused the ball to exist, where are the constants arising from? How do amazingly complex and harmoniously interdependent constants immediately arise from unadulterated explosions of randomness? Have we ever observed anything ordered result from an explosion, much less one of universal magnitude? Upon what basis are we to believe such lunacy? That is enormously unreasonable and hypocritical faith.

Not only have we never observed any evidence of this false reality that they indoctrinate us to accept, it defies the common sense of mere human reality. We humans are arguably the most creative force that we know of in the universe. And, we are not capable of creating or forcing our own constants on a universal scale. We can’t even create a constant that did not already exist in a laboratory scale. What makes anyone accept that a non-creative, non-existent force in the universe created the entire universe and did so with extreme randomness with such God-like precision without being God? If we being of the highest known physical intellect, can’t begin to conceive how to create the existence of a universal constant, what makes us believe that they emerged by a non-intellectual force? Why have we not observed emergence of other universal constants out of daily randomness over the past thousands of years of scientific observation? Why do we even have constants? If everything emerged from nothing with no apparent order and operates in absolute randomness, then how do we even have universal constants? Why isn’t everything chaotically random? Why can’t such amazingly powerful randomness overpower a single universal physical constant somewhere in the universe? Which is more powerful, the randomness (our opposition's alleged creator) or the constants themselves? If the non-existent random force is so powerful, why does randomness not reign over universal structure? Why do we have any structure at all, including atomic, even subatomic structure? Maybe what we perceive as random is not random at all. Maybe we need to stop calling God random and call Him by His name. The fact that we have just one universal physical constant is evidence enough to suggest an almighty Creator the likes of which is revealed in the Bible. His name is God.

The existence of constants for which we are incapable of proving a cause means that each constant had a cause that is capable of the effect. That means that each constant viewed as an effect must have a cause that is exponentially higher than the most intelligent physical and creative intellect we claim to know – man. Each of these constants would require such a higher being in each individual case. Again, the cause must be capable of conceptualizing and creating a single constant, and probably all of them. To create the existence of the universal constant of the speed of light requires a creative force that transcends the universal speed of light. And, that is just one constant. Each of these constants require individually a creative force on the level of the Biblical God. But, we don’t have just one such constant. We have over 19 at the same time. What does it suggest when just one universal physical constant requires an intellectual force that far transcends man, and yet we have over 19? What does it suggest that we may not have even scratched the surface of known constants down to the subatomic level? In reality, how long do you think the actual list of constants is? And, yet, what does it suggest that all of these known and unknown constants all exist individually and together and in harmonious interworking with each other? There is no other explanation but the God of the Bible or His equivalent. (Hint: there is no equivalent)

Regarding the God of the Bible, Romans 1:19-20 says, “what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” And, Colossians 1:17 says, “[Jesus] is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” And, John 1:3 says, "Through [Jesus] all things were made; without [Jesus] nothing was made that has been made." Finally, Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Christian, we have an answer to the question. But, we need to respectfully question the questioner. Jesus Christ, our God, is the Creator of all that we perceive. God is the only equivalent postulated to logically and reasonably be found plausible of causing all that the universe displays. It was Jesus, who was the Word that spoke it all into existence in Genesis 1 and John 1. That same Jesus willingly gave His life to rescue us from our own blindness to this Creation fact. And, this same Jesus will return in order to restore things to as they should be. All of the constants that we observe in the physical world will pass away with that same world. Therefore, Heaven is not governed by constants (plural). Heaven is governed by only one constant – the Only True and Eternal Constant. That Constant is Jesus Christ. Bow with me and worship Him!

Silence of the Political Lambs

As I have mentioned before, I am an immigrant to America – a legal immigrant from the Bahamas. I moved to America on a student visa to attend college. Upon graduation, I married my college sweetheart with which I am now enjoying our 29th year of marriage. Through my wife, we applied for my green card so that I could work at the CPA firm that hired me to begin work that same year. At first, I was given a conditional green card. After the minimum one year on a conditional green card, I earned the right to be issued a permanent green card. After the minimum of two years with the permanent green card, we applied for my U.S. citizenship. I had to pass a written test that probably most Americans would fail. We then had to prove that we were still legitimately married. Finally, I had to pledge allegiance to America and be sworn in. It was one of the most exciting times of my life. But, the part that was most frustrating during this time was the fact that for those years, I had to pay taxes to a government for which I was not allowed to vote. I understood this legal limitation. But, it was frustrating nonetheless. After all, that is one of the reasons that our Founding Fathers fought and died to become independent – taxation without representation!

It amazes me today to watch so many “evangelicals” proverbially acting out because their candidate was not nominated. They have even expressed the willingness to do the exact opposite of what our Founding Fathers fought for. They say they are willingly deciding to sit out the election while paying taxes. They volunteer for taxation without representation. But, funnily enough, that does not stop many of these election spectators from speaking out against the nominee on social media. Needless to say, there is an absurd disconnect between speaking out (even lashing out and/or screaming out as in social media) over a dislike for the winning nominee, and then choosing not to vote. Both are the expression of opinion, but only one is politically effective. If the desire is not to influence the vote, then I guess the motive is to be heard - that is not a Spirit-led motive. What is more ironic, even borderline hypocritical, is to do one and refuse the other – an open contradiction. If a person is going to choose to not vote (a.k.a. be politically silent in the only poll that ultimately matters most), it is absurd for that person to devote time and energy to screaming at or about the ultimate nominee they don’t like on social media. Do you actually believe that your cyber rants will be more effective than your vote? Do you actually believe that you will affect the election in such an inconsistent way? Do you actually think this looks spiritually mature? Do you actually rely on ranting more than prayer? Do you pray for the nominee before you curse the nominee? Would cursing the nominee ever follow praying for the nominee? Do you actually believe that the nominee is more dangerous than the alternative?

With that background, let’s devote some time to all of the reasonable reasons why not to vote? Well, there are none. If you choose not to vote, I challenge you to think forward to the day that you have children (because I assume if you are not voting, chances are you are fairly young). One day you will have children and you will begin to teach them the importance of voting. At that point, you will not be able to escape the ironic conviction that you devalued voting in 2016. The truth is that voting is a privilege not to be taken or dashed away lightly. The number of nations where people are free to vote are growing slim. You may not like the candidates. But, is it the Holy Spirit that has told you not to vote or just your flesh? I have never heard one Christian say that the Holy Spirit has commanded them to sit this one out. I have never heard one Christian declare that not voting makes them a better Christian. You may not like either candidate, but that is expected of human reality. You will probably never like candidates if you actually get to know them. Candidates for President are required to be narcissistic just to consider running. They are morally deficient from the start.

Therefore, suck it up, put on your adult boots, research the platforms and qualifications, and pray. As you pray for the candidates, ask God which candidate He really prefers the most. Remember that He died for both of them. Ask Him for which candidate He would prefer you to vote. Then quiet yourself and listen for the still small voice of the Almighty Holy Spirit that lives within every Christian. Here are a few hints: God favors religious liberty, life, the rule of law, and respecting authority, just to name a few. Compare this list of God's favorite issues with the candidates and their platforms.

Voting has always been a tool God has used/commanded to choose many of His leaders throughout the Bible. In Deuteronomy 1:13, God commanded the Israelites, “Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.” That is a direct quote from God Himself. When we examine this verse against the backdrop of Romans 13, we understand that God asks us to choose our leaders, and God appoints them. It is not necessarily in that order, but we work together under God to select those who would have the privilege to govern us. We see the same dynamic in the New Testament in the way in which churches select Elders and Deacons. Christian, you should be the last person on Earth to forsake your privilege to vote in the election of the highest office in our land. After all, you will be hard pressed to find God supporting you in your abstinence.

In case that did not convince you, here are some more reasons (each secular, yet compelling) as to why every Christian should vote:
  1. We are electing more than just the President. We are also electing the members of the House of Representatives, Senate, and all of the State and local representatives that are down the ballot.
  2. The higher the turnout, the more representative the government is. Choosing not to vote is beyond silly and more in keeping with oligarchy than representative democracy and self-government. And, if you don’t want to speak in the way of electing eligible representatives, why speak out at all? What then is your motivation?
  3. Voting is currently a right we freely enjoy that so many people are still fighting for in other countries. When that right is lost, you will crave for it. Don't take it for granted.
  4. Voting is your political voice. Voting is your shout. speaking out is closer to a whisper in comparison.
In 2012, the evangelicals stayed home because the Republicans nominated a center-right Mormon. And, that was foolish. Do you realize that Mitt Romney garnered less votes than John McCain in 2008? Do you realize that had Romney garnered the exact same number of votes as John McCain did in 2008, Romney would be President today? That is a fact. Not voting is foolish, which is also a fact. Given the freedom to have a say in choosing those who will govern you, and choosing to not exercise that freedom is foolish. My suggestion to those whom this post describes is to stop wasting energy on social media and transfer that energy to prayer and research of the candidates – all of the candidates, including those down ballot. And, vote! If, in the end, you carry your political ranting to full bloom by not voting, then the rest of us look forward to your silence post-election when you enabled the freedoms that the rest of us enjoy to be more rapidly eviscerated. If that is what happens, we don’t want to hear what you have to say all over social media – you practically forfeited the right to be heard by your absence in the voting booth, when your voice most counted. After all, not voting makes you the worst of sheep – a truly silent lamb. In politics, silent lambs are not cute, they are dangerous in such an election year as this. I heard it once said, “Bad officials are elected by good citizens who don’t vote.”
